Who hasn’t imagined her wedding day? I know this might sound obsessive, but I’ve gone through every single detail at least 100 times. That includes, of course, the wedding dress. But while we’re dreaming, Jiminy Cricket shows up and whispers: “well, you know that you would look like a meringue pie if you wear Lady Diana’s dress, right?”, “Carolyn Bessette looked great, but…aren’t you a bit too curvy for that dress?” and mainly the “are you sure you want to spend that much in a wedding dress? you’ll only wear it once anyways…does that seem reasonable?”

Probably not. The truth is, there’s no point on getting a dress that will have to be re-sized, and spend tons of money in something that, unless you’re Tim Burton’s cute Corpse Bride or the Runaway Bride, your dress will be kept in a closet for years to come. If the little girl’s dream was to have a fairy tale wedding venue, the big girl’s reality is to commit to her green values and time schedule. After all, the hardest part was to find Prince Charming.

The (Perfect!) Portrait of a Lady

Being the last child has advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage? Your parents are too tired to apply the boarding school discipline that they tried with your older siblings. The disadvantages? They’re too tired to do any of the fun stuff as well. That includes all the photo shoots that in the case of my sisters are well kept in cute Peter Rabbit photo albums, and in mine are non-existent. But well, who can blame them. After all, photographing children is one of the most difficult things to do: they move, they play around and they get easily bored.

That’s where Judy Host comes into the picture. She knows exactly how to choose the perfect location, poses and activities in order to make your children believe they’re just playing, and not in the process of being captured in that moment for eternity. In my case, it might be a bit late (or too early) to call Judy for advice, but I still have the chance to have my perfect portrait done.

Not to mention, I want to have someone like Clay Blackmore behind the camera, taking care of every detail. While some people believe that pictures take part of your soul, I think it’s a great way to remember the beautiful moments of life (made even more beautiful with the Photoshop post production work!)

I Would Go Out Tonight, But I Haven’t Got a Stitch To Wear

As part of the trusted team that oversees the majority of content arriving at our doors here at 5min, I get to view an awe-inspiring amount of content across a long list of topics and categories. What always blows my mind is that there’s so much terrific content out there, waiting to be discovered – in fact, sometimes it’s just a question of the right timing until a certain how-to or tremendous tip rocks my socks off.

From the second I laid eyes on the fashion-savvy she-lions of WhoWhatWear.com, I was wondering why these style-smart ladies couldn’t have show up earlier in my life, like, say a year ago, when I was actually ditching weddings and other dress-heavy events just so I could avoid the humongous headache and battle cry of “What should I wear?!!!”

Luckily, just in time for wedding season at 5min (next month we are giving away both our Product VP, Sharon, and Oren, our Online Marketing Manager…but not to each other!), Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr are here to pound some fashion sense into us all, with this no-nonsense video dispensing valuable advice on what to wear to a wedding:
