OK, so we all know that season 8 of 24 is fast approaching on the horizon and with it being the last season I have some predictions. The thing being that for the series to end, Jack must either die and be theoretically replaced or there are no more terrorists… Well we all know from previous seasons (season 4) Jack can’t die, people try but he comes back to life. So we are left with the latter option no more terrorists! Now obviously Jack can’t kill everyone because that would take more than 24 hours. So somehow Jack has to broker peace with all the terrorists…. How will this happen; It’s easy with I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E. and Chloe on the job. OK here’s the scenario; President Allison Taylor, gets a call from the terrorists something bad is possibly going to happen in 20 minutes. Jack must race across LA to get there in time, but he has something laying heavy on his heart, he wants to retire but how, when every season he has “Middle Easterns”, Russians or Chinese to fight!? He enlists Chloe to find a way for peace. She in turn hacks into I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E.

the stats are 99% of American’s love Pumpkin and 100% of “Middle Easterns” love Hummus.

Chloe runs the check through her computer and discovers that making an amalgamation of the two would have a chance. She calls Jack but he’s all already at the destination with his gun pulled on the latest female terrorist (in season 8 all terrorists are female). Chloe tells him if he has any chance of brokering peace he must make pumpkin hummus. Jack replies in his raspy, half broken voice “how will I make pumpkin hummus!?” Then this sweet voice speaks up….. ‘I can make pumpkin hummus’. Jack has a new ally. Together they ride back to the kitchens of CTU to make the dish to bring peace…… Well then the rest is history; as it is the last season Jack and his new partner obviously become close during the hummus making, make peace for the world and ride off into the sunset together. If you also want to make peace like Jack this Thanksgiving here’s your simple recipe to follow.

Some people say that you can only call yourself an adult once you have wine glasses. Others think that the limit isn’t set by the glass, but by the bottle: if the wine comes in a box, that means that you still have a lot to learn about classy drinking. Because the fact is that yes, fancy wines don’t come in boxes.

But apparently, all drink taboos are meant to be broken. After all, absinthe isn’t illegal anymore and some boxes do contain decent wine. Also, being a grown-up means that you’re not here to impress anyone, so if you’re hosting a Thanksgiving party, some box wines are good enough to keep your guests happy and entertained.

DadLabs guide us through the world of Box Wines (a world that I had forgotten long time ago, thanks to Gary Vaynerchuck) and show some options that will provide some decent alcohol for a decent price.

Watch more DIY videos on 5min.com

Now, if you still don’t feel comfortable drinking this wine, you can also consider the option of making mulled wine, (or the classic Glögg if you have the mix), which is perfect for the colder season and will make any wine taste good.

What’s better than chocolate cake? Chocolate cheesecake. Better than ice-cream? Cheesecake ice- cream. Better than yogurt? Yogurt cheesecake. So yes, if I had been with Hansel and Gretel, I wouldn’t have fallen for the candy house. Now, if this house had been the Cheesecake Factory, I would have been a very easy prey.

So for Thanksgiving, what’s better than pumpkin pie? Well, the answer is obvious: Pumpkin Cheesecake. In order to make the perfect pumpkin cheesecake, you need to master the art of baking a cheesecake before, with all the important tips that you should always consider: preheating the oven, adding the ingredients slowly and one by one, and mixing everything in the right speed.

Just look how they do it at LeGourmet.tv:

Watch more DIY videos on 5min.com

And what you need:

INGREDIENTS:

* 4 6-ounce packages of cream cheese (room temperature)
* 2 cups sugar
* 1 15-ounce can of pumpkin
* 5 large eggs
* 3 tbl all purpose flour
* 1 tsp ground cinnamon
* 1/2 tsp ground ginger
* 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
* 1/2 tsp ground allspice
* 1/4 tsp salt
* 2 tbl vanilla

Enjoy!

If any of you keep up with any of my other blog posts you will see that I have recently been apartment hunting. Well the apartment is found and the oven is bought, now all I need to do it to figure out how to use it. Now if it’s not enough about learning how to use it, I know I went on in my last blog (in a slightly romantic way) my love of ovens and maybe even made it sound like I was an expert, well I’m not. I’m great at experimenting and making wonderfully weird cakes, but not real food. So as I said not only do I have to figure out how to use the oven to make real food and not just use it for a toy; but I have to figure out how to carve a turkey also!! Why do I have to learn to this stuff, well I’m a vegetarian Brit that’s never carved anything more than a brussel sprout at Christmas let alone ever celebrated a Thanksgiving! Now this poor veggie (me) seems to find herself involved in a carnivorous, thanks giving celebrating family! What will I do!?
There are a few options open for me.
1) Run and hide
2) Suck it up and learn to cook propa food
3) Order take out before the guests arrive
4)Get drunk and be able to laugh off the disaster
But as it is a new family I’m involved with, and I am still trying to impress I think I will have to go for option 2!
All I can say is thank God for GreenHouse studio at least they’ve covered me for the carving part of the turkey….

Watch more DIY videos on 5min.com
But the cooking… Can anyone please help!????

I’m all for healthy lifestyle: choosing organic, low calories, and keeping a balanced diet . But when it comes to butter, cream and crunchy bread, there’s nothing I can do. They make me forget about the healthy lifestyle and make me want to book a flight to Paris right away. We have a lot to learn from the French when it comes to food (and movies too). Julia Child knew what she was doing when she decided to introduce French Cuisine into American homes.

Chef Jason Hill follows Child’s steps with a Thanksgiving classic: pumpkin soup. But he shows us how to do it the French way: creamy, with a good amount of “fromage”, and a perfect Gourmet appearance. Now, don’t worry about the sophisticated looks of this pumpkin soup: it’s done in a few simple steps.

Watch more DIY videos on 5min.com

So if you want to make this Thankgiving Dinner “chic”, you should definetely try this recipe. Just remember to choose the right pumpkin (no blemishes, please!), a good quality cheese, and there you go…

Bon appétit!

I’m house hunting at the moment and I only have two must haves for my new place.

1) A bathroom where you don’t feel less clean after you’ve come out of it.

2) An area for an oven.

Now don’t get me wrong, my name isn’t Curly Sue and I don’t have 6 brothers and 11 sisters all living on a little house on the prairie. Neither do I have perfectly bobbed hair and walk around the house all day in an immaculate dress with perfectly manicured nails even though I am cleaning and baking all day.

I mean it may be fun to sit at home all day and bake but it’s not for me. The thing is I don’t like the television and don’t own one so to me having an oven is like having a TV.

As you guys learn your show’s characters I learn my ingredients, as you get deeper into the plot, I get deeper into adding the subtle flavors of the dish. As your plot thickens and you don’t know what will happen at the end, my dish is going into the oven I don’t how it will turn out. We both wait on tenterhooks, wait for the outcome. And then the climax builds I watch the minuets tick as the cake rises, you watch your villain get stalked. Then Bang! Your baddie is caught and the scent of the delicious cake explodes through my oven.

So I am always on the hunt for new recipes of cakes, or biscuits, or pies, or ANYTHING!

Watch more DIY videos on 5min.com

And if it’s cheap then all the better!

The best thing about Hungry Nation is they don’t tell you to put a sprig of thyme that can only be found on a lonely prairie on the top of Ben Nevis! They use stuff (ingredients) that I find down my local corner shop!! Awesome! With their simple but very effective, cozy cooking style I feel I could cook anything. In fact in the words of Bernard from Black Books “My oven’s so good it could cook bits of oven”

A self-confessed candy corn addict, none was more thrilled than I to discover this video from the Food Network, detailing the labor of love with which this colorful treat is made. Like many others, I too had no idea how this addictive candy was originally created, or what its ingredients actually are, until viewing this gem.

The Food Network goes behind this triangle-shaped wonder, and gives you the low-down on how candy corn was originally created by the Goelitz Brothers Candy Company, and gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how candy corn is made, along with Bill Kelley, President of Goelitz and a fourth-generation candymaker.

Watch more DIY videos on 5min.com

Did You Know? Top 5 Candy Corn Trivia Tidbits:

1. Thank goodness for mass production: In 1900, the Goelitz Brothers Candy Company, later known as the Jelly Belly Candy Company (yes, the same awesome folks are responsible for Jelly Belly, too!), started mass-producing the candy. However, due to the relatively primitive machinery of those days, it was only available seasonally from March to November. Its recipe has remained unchanged throughout the years.

2. Sweeter than you think: A cup of candy corn actually contains fewer calories than a cup of raisins. If that’s not good enough to soothe away post-Halloween sugar-induced guilt, I don’t know what is.

3. Layered, not stirred: Candy corn is actually made by using molded layers, with orange as the first layer, yellow as the second layer and white as the third. Next time you wish to eat your candy according to hierarchy, keep this fun fact in mind.

4. Corn-colored holiday: Candy corn was even rewarded with a holiday of its own, with October 30th marking National Candy Corn Day.

5. The secret ingredient: Part of what helps candy corn retain its unique texture and mouth-watering taste? Marshmallows. We swear!

Happy Halloween,

Okay, so we’ve reached that point in our lives where going out trick or treating would look more like begging than cute kids dressing up and receiving candy. But never fear, you are now entering the next stage in your life: THE Halloween party stage. In some ways, this is actually a little cooler.

Sure, you still get to dress up but now, you can do it with alcohol! Of, course I’m not encouraging you to go overboard, just to get a little festive.

Just imagine the scene, your decorations are up, you’re all dressed up, your guests are arriving and then – BAM – you bring out the cocktails! Not just regular cocktails that you see every day, oh no… You bring out the super-duper fantastic Halloween cocktails.

Watch more DIY videos on 5min.com

Now that the festive drinks are flowing, it is time for the party games. No more monster freeze game, or hunting for the eyeball. With these Halloween cocktails it time to break out the (sensible) party drinking games!

Watch more DIY videos on 5min.com

But of course, apple bobbing will never go out of style, so just for a little spice add some Westons cider instead of apple juice or water!

Don’t fret about getting old and missing out on all that candy, you’ll have plenty of time during your life to gorge on candy and now you’re old enough you don’t even have to ask for permission anymore. Time to move on and start your new Halloween traditions….Enjoy, and bottoms up!

We all know the sugar high and then sugar stress that comes with Halloween. Whether you’re the mother of an excitable child or just worried about your own sugar levels, Halloween can have you calorie counting like the best of us.

We all know what excess sugar and fats can do to us; our Halloween costumes feel a little tighter than the day we tried them on and our 6 monthly trip to the dentist is brought way forward. Well never fear the content experts and bloggers at 5min are here to help, advise and guide you to the people that can help. DietHealth. Now I don’t have a sweet tooth (I’m British so I have inherently bad teeth and don’t need anything to help the process), but for others that tend to over indulge on Halloween candy these girls are going to be like your spiritual guides.

After “The Lost Boys” noodles were never the same for me, and even now I still have second thoughts before I eat them. That’s me and horror movies: even when I know that life will never be the same for me after I watch them, I can’t stay away from them. That’s how I never sleep with the tv on, I would never watch a video that someone just gave me, I would never work in an isolated hotel, and I never move to a house that has a dark story behind.

That’s why I love Halloween: it’s the one day when everyone is in the mood for all the scary, spooky activities, such as playing Ouija, visiting haunted houses and taking gore into the kitchen.

If you are one of those, you might want to try making some eyeball-shaped cakes. Now, if you want to make the experience even more scary, make sure to ask your guests, Jeepers, Creepers, where’d you get those eyes?
