Online Computer Safety
Feb 22nd, 2010 by Emma
The internet is everywhere these days, it is not just confined to your household computer. It’s on phones, iPods, and various other PDA devices. Having the internet so easily accessible can be great anytime you want to know something ( it will only be a few clicks away), but it can also bring with it some problems.
Keeping your kids safe online is easy enough if you’re hovering around behind your children every minute they’re on the internet, but that wouldn’t really leave you much time to do the things you need to get done or put you in good favor with the kids. So how do you keep them safe while giving them their space?
Ellen from CafeMom shares some tips on online computer safety:
So the main things to remember are:
- Keep the computers in a family accessible room to keep temptation from the mind.
- Mom should be a friend on Facebook or other social networking sites.
- Explain your kids about the dangers of giving out personal information.
- Talk to your children about responsibility and the internet.
So, follow these points from CafeMom and it will be one less worry for you to think about.

This is definitely true. We, parents should be more proactive these days. We must be more interested in the whereabouts of our kids. Especially on the web. But we must not stalk too much. There must be a certain level of trust. That comes in when we keep a good communication with our kids, discussing issues with them. After all, they will have to learn to discern what things are right and best for them. We will not be there for them all the time, like you mentioned.
