New Year’s and the Art of Holiday Party Planning

In every New Year’s party you can see a few people who suffer from what is professionally known as “The Countdown Syndrome“; the symptoms include obsessively checking one’s watch for the time and repetitively looking around the room trying to asses the status of the party. As a host you might want to engage these people in conversation but chances are they’ll be on the phone most of the time trying to locate a better party they can reach in time.
Another common ailment is running out of drinks too early – the kiss of death to any New Year’s party. You don’t want to overspend but people do drink more than usual on this night so proper party planning is crucial.
