White Christmas, Green Christmas

I’ve met many Ebenezer Scrooges in my life. People who spit on Christmas trees, make people work in Christmas or simply hate people. Why would anyone hate a day of lights, trees, music, food, presents and classic movies? Well, you might have a reason for hating all that: it’s a big waste of energy, and has a negative impact on our planet. So, if you have a Scrooge inside you, you can tell the Christmas carolers to stop that acoustic pollution, and instruct all your neighbors to turn off their lights and reduce their carbon footprints.
The truth is, these are all excuses. If you really have the Christmas spirit, there are ways to celebrate it in a greener way. You can make like Madonna and have an organic dinner, you can stay away from the turkey and try some other yummy dishes, and you can get some LED lights and save some energy.
If you still think of yourself as a Scrooge and don’t want to admit that you’re doing a favor to help stop global warming, just think that by doing this you’re also reducing your electricity bill. Or at least tell that to the eager carol singers to keep them away.
