Live Earth

The upcoming S.O.S Live Earth concerts this Sunday have got me thinking about the environment and climate control, and that’s a good thing.
Actually, I’ve been thinking about the environment for a while now. Around the 5minplex I carry the unofficial title of VP of recycling. Most days you’ll see me leaving the office with a plastic bag (yes, I get the irony) full of plastic bottles (usually mineral water and diet coke) on my way to the bottle receptacle “cage”.
To say this is just a drop in the bucket that assuages my guilt would be an understatement. I drive a car everywhere. I like to eat avocados year-round, which means they arrive at the market in energy wasting and polluting ways from all over the world. I use makeup removal wipes, which create waste - though I’m trying to cut down on that (the wipes, not the makeup), and in general, I consume and pollute more than one should.
How all of our actions affect planet earth is evident, though very much in debate, but I’ll stop now, before I start sounding like a self-absorbed, doomsday, nagging, tiresome, party-pooper, which is a major turn-off and how a lot of environmentalists sound.
This week is as good a time as ever to contemplate what we can do to make our world cleaner, nicer, and environmentally safer for the sake of the polar bears, our grandchildren and the better of the whole.
I leave you with this 5min video on how to reduce carbon emissions at home, which is always a good place to start.

Plastic bottle pollution is just horrendous, everywhere I run, all I see is discarded plastic water bottles. I no longer buy bottled water as a personal stand against this trashing of our environment, I use a Hydropal instead, which allows me to drink filtered tap water wherever I am, I got my hydropal from http://www.hydropal.com.au, regards
